2 - 4 Servings
Ingredients
Base Ingredients
• 1 large banana (preferably green or semi-ripe)
• 1 cup grated coconut (fresh or desiccated)
• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 2 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
• 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
• 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
• Salt to taste
• A few sprigs of fresh coriander or mint for garnish (optional)
Preparation
Prepare the Banana:
Peel the banana and cut it into small, thin slices. If you are using a very ripe banana, it should be firm but not overly soft.
Cook the Banana:
Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them sizzle for a few seconds until they release their aroma.
Add the finely chopped onion and green chilies. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent.
Add the Banana and Spices:
Add the sliced banana to the pan.
Sprinkle the turmeric powder and salt over the banana.
Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
Add Coconut:
Add the grated coconut to the pan and mix thoroughly with the banana.
Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the banana is cooked through and the flavors are well combined.
Finish and Garnish:
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
Garnish with fresh coriander or mint if desired.
Serve:
Serve the Boshi Mashuni warm as a side dish or as a light main course.
Enjoy your meal!
