In a large bowl, combine the ground beef and ground pork.
Soak the breadcrumbs in milk for about 5 minutes, then add them to the meat mixture.
Add the finely chopped onion, egg, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Mix everything together until well combined. You can use your hands for the best results.
Form the mixture into oval-shaped patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
Heat the butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Fry the meat cakes in batches, cooking each side for about 4-5 minutes, or until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
Remove the cooked meat cakes from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
In the same skillet, add the butter and let it melt.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture turns a light golden brown.
Gradually add the beef broth while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
Stir in the milk or cream and continue to cook until the gravy has thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Return the meat cakes to the skillet with the gravy and simmer for a few minutes to heat them through.
Enjoy your meal!
