In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the salt.
Gradually whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and the cornmeal is fully cooked (about 10-15 minutes).
Once the Ribel is cooked, stir in the butter until melted and well combined.
