Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

Add Butter

Cut the softened butter into the dry ingredients using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.

Form Dough

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

Shape and Bake

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it out to about 1-inch thickness. Cut the dough into rounds using a biscuit cutter or a glass.

Bake

Place the dough rounds on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Cool

Allow the bakes to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Enjoy your meal!
