Ingredients

  • 4 slices of rustic country bread or ciabatta
  • 2 large ripe tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Toast the Bread

Lightly toast the slices of bread until they are golden brown and crispy. You can use a toaster, grill, or broiler.

Rub with Garlic

While the bread is still warm, rub one side of each slice with a peeled clove of garlic. The garlic will impart its flavor into the warm bread.

Rub with Tomato

Take a halved tomato and rub the cut side over the garlic-rubbed side of each slice of bread, pressing gently to release the tomato's juices and pulp. Ensure the bread is well-coated with the tomato.

Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil over each slice of tomato-rubbed bread.

Season with Salt

Sprinkle a pinch of salt over each slice to taste.
